Nigeria’s Yemi Alade Becomes Host Of MTV African Music Video Awards Event
Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has been made co hosts of the sixth edition of the popular MTV Africa Music Video Awards 2016.
She joins South Africa actress and model Nomzamo Mbatha and Bonang Matheba to anchor the event taken place Saturday, October 22, 2016, at the Ticket Pro Dome, Johannesburg, South Africa.
MTV made the big announcement on Friday, October 21, 2016 at a press conference.
Trevor Noah, who was selected as host of the event pulled out due to health reasons.
The 6-year award event will feature performances from various African top acts, including- Nasty C, Babes Wodumo, Yemi Alade, Ycee, Cassper Nyovest, Alikiba, Wizkid, DJ Maphorisa, C4 Pedro and Kenya music group Sauti Sol.
Nigerian trio Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and Wizkid are all nominated in the MTV MAMA Award show.
Falz, Simi, Tekno, Kiss Daniel and Burna Boy are other Nigerian acts up for awards.
